Numa is a modern Portuguese restaurant on the outskirts of Portimao. You can park for free in front of the door.
Nuno Martins is the chef and his wife Manuela João does the service. Nuno (49) previously worked at restaurant BonBon and VilaVitaparc, but started his own restaurant two years ago. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has 36 seats. It has a half open kitchen, so you can see the chefs working hard for you.

Chef Nuno cooks with the seasons and uses only local products

Nuno himself comes to the table with the guests, which I always like very much. Not the type of shy chef who doesn't dare to leave the kitchen.

Besides fish and meat, there are 2 vegetarian/vegan options. There is also a 6-course tasting menu for 69 euros. (regular/vegetarian/vegan).

The prices of the main courses are between 16 and 28 euros.

Nuno explains that he cooks with the seasons, and that he buys all products from local suppliers. All dishes are made from A-Z. For example, making a good gravy takes almost 7 days before it is completely ready. But the result is after that. To eat your finger too, we would say in the Netherlands. Because he cooks everything fresh, there is no waste. Nuno is therefore a conscious chef!

Our food is delicious. We start with a delicious fresh amuse-bouche. Our son Elyas (7), who is currently on holiday, likes it so much that he would like to order more amuse-bouches..

The amuse-bouche is followed by the couvert, with delicious homemade bread, olive oil from Monchique and the tastiest olive tapenade I've ever had. Elyas also loves it and wants to order more... Elyas has delicious gluten-free bread.

Elyas has soup as a starter, I have a delicious savory pie with lime foam.

As a main course I have a vegan stew with sweet potato, and Elyas has a delicious pumpkin terrine.

And then a delicious dessert! Fig ice cream on a chickpea biscuit. Yum!!

Resume: Nice couple, nice modern restaurant, parking in front of the door and delicious food! 3 downsides: they don't have a cheap lunch menu, like for example Lusitano in Albufeira, there is no terrace, and the coffee is Nespresso.. Otherwise great!
