Restaurant A Ver is located in the center of Tavira, close to the old castle and the main church.

Tasting menu: 4-course lunch menu for 85 euros,

and 7-course dinner for 160 euros (vegetarian 155 euros).

Many Michel restaurants do not have lunch, but fortunately this is possible here.

The entrance to the restaurant is quite nondescript. I am kindly received.

The decor looks cozy. There are 7 tables inside, and a few more tables outside on the balcony, which have a view of the old town.

For a long time I am the only guest, so I am not short of attention. I even perceive the attention as too much. 6 people who constantly look at me, and do their tasks. I find this very restless. Later in the evening only 1 table will be added.

So why line up a whole group of waitstaff, when there are only 2 tables on an evening. 1 or 2 people would have been better, and keep it nice and personal.

There is no a la carte menu, only take the tasting menu.

The service is very nice and professional. But has no room to disappear behind the scenes, so is always disturbingly present in the (not too large) restaurant.

The food all looks great, but the taste of the food was disappointing for a restaurant at this level. Some dishes were very tasty, others not so good. Apparently the chef noticed that too, because he personally came to inquire why I hadn't cleared many plates. Very good of him to point this out and take action on it.
