O Gambuzino is one of those places you walk into and immediately feel: everything here just works. A vibrant vegan restaurant with an international plant-based kitchen, great cocktails, wine and beer, and above all… incredibly good flavours. Nothing pretentious, but plenty of finesse. Right in the heart of Lisbon.
The restaurant sits directly opposite the 18+ lifestyle hotel Upon Angels, in the lively neighbourhood of Intendente. An area known for its creative energy, street art, young locals and travellers who prefer something a little more authentic than the touristy centre. The atmosphere is relaxed: a mix of locals, expats and food lovers who know O Gambuzino is doing something special.
The building has character: historic, with a semi-open kitchen where you can watch the chefs focus intensely on each dish. Outside there’s a small terrace, plus a covered veranda. Everything feels warm and informal – exactly what you want when you’re here to enjoy a good meal.
Address: Rua dos Anjos 5A, 1150-032 Lisboa
Opening hours: 7 days a week, 6:30–10:30 pm
All wines are Portuguese, vegan, and produced in small batches by wineries that work sustainably. From organic to natural wines – the list fits perfectly with the plant-based philosophy of the restaurant. Nothing complicated, just carefully curated and full of character.
Here is the full à-la-carte menu:
Creative, modern and full of layered flavours. This isn’t vegan food “as an alternative”. It’s simply outstanding cooking.
The absolute highlight: a 10-course tasting menu for just €35. And yes, it can be made gluten-free on request. The price–quality ratio is almost unbelievable.
Here are the 10 courses:
1. Fermented green gazpacho, toasted buckwheat, pani puri
2. Oyster mushroom, yellow beetroot, hazelnut, gem lettuce, red onion pickle
3. King oyster mushroom ‘scallops’, pea purée, black garlic, samphire, preserved lemon
4. Cured daikon, ajo blanco, dashi, almond, sriracha oil, crostini
5. Broad bean falafels, hummus, pear & sumac conserve, smoked labneh, radish pickle, dukkah
6. Lion’s mane yakitori, smashed potato, kosho emulsion, cucumber & orange sonomono, oregano
7. ‘Sea rice’, confit celeriac, king oyster, coriander oil, lemon air
8. Homemade black bean tempeh, broccolini, cassava, snow pea & tamarind, satay
9. Masala chai cheesecake, almond crumble, ginger cream
10. Belgian chocolate mousse, baked cacao meringue, chocolate crumb, pomegranate
Each dish arrives at exactly the right moment, building up from light and fresh to deep and umami-rich.
The team is young, enthusiastic and truly knows what they’re talking about. They speak passionately about fermentation, wine pairings, techniques and ingredients. You feel the love and pride they have for their craft. The open kitchen adds an extra layer of experience: chefs finishing each dish with precision and calm.
This place fully lives up to the hype. The flavours are refined, the balance is perfect, and everything feels so intentional. I could eat here every day… you taste the passion and love, and it’s healthy too!
O Gambuzino is a must-visit for anyone who loves surprising, creative food. Vegan, non-vegan, foodie, wine lover – everyone walks out smiling. Affordable, special, and made with so much care that you instantly understand why this is one of Lisbon’s best vegan neighbourhood restaurants.
