Iconic Grand Café Aliança in Faro is truly a gem with its beautiful classical architecture, beautifully renovated interior, and top-notch service.

As the oldest grand café in Faro, dating back to 1908, it has a rich history that has been carefully preserved and brought back to life.

Located near the harbor and the equally stunning Columbus Cocktail bar.

During our visit, our waiter shared the fascinating history of the restaurant and provided insights into the photographs on the walls. The food was not only delicious but also expertly and passionately explained by the staff. It made for a delightful evening, and I wholeheartedly recommend Café Aliança.

The grand café atmosphere is truly captivating, and the inclusion of French brasserie classics like the steak sandwich on the menu adds to its charm.

As for the menu, it offers a variety of options, from soups and salads to main courses featuring fish, meat, and vegan dishes, starting from 14.50 euros. Additionally, there's an extensive selection of tapas to choose from.

What I appreciated about this place is that it offers excellent value for your money, the staff is attentive and helpful, and the interior exudes stylish yet understated elegance.

The restaurant is under the management of Diogo Ganhão, who has worked in the Netherlands and returned to reopen this establishment. The owners, a Portuguese boxing champion and a Canadian investor, have created something truly special. Unfortunately, they are not open all day, as is customary for Grand Cafés, where you can also get your coffee and breakfast. Aliança opens at 3:00 PM and at 12:00 PM on weekends. Therefore, its concept aligns more with that of a brasserie than a grand café.

The staff is not only professionally dressed in beautiful classical clothing but also incredibly friendly and welcoming.

All in all, Aliança is a captivating establishment with a fascinating history, delicious food, and a relaxed atmosphere. It's a place where you can truly taste the essence of Faro. Whether you want to dine indoors, surrounded by old photos of Faro, or opt for the pleasant outdoor terrace, you're in for an unforgettable experience. In my opinion, this grand café holds a special place in Faro and is a must-visit.
