Walking through Chiado, one of Lisbon’s most elegant neighbourhoods, it’s impossible to miss the striking building that houses Bairro do Avillez. It looks grand, almost theatrical, and stepping inside feels like entering a different universe. Here, under one roof, you’ll find four completely different restaurant concepts, all created by Portugal’s most famous chef, José Avillez. It’s a culinary playground — a place where an evening easily turns into a night out.
Páteo is the lively centrepiece: bright, bustling, and all about fish and seafood in a modern Portuguese style. Think high ceilings, energy in the air, and dishes designed for sharing.
Next door is Taberna, warm and nostalgic. This is Avillez’ refined take on a traditional Portuguese tasca: petiscos, charcuterie, cheeses, comfort flavours and a homely, rustic vibe.
Hidden behind a red theatrical door lies an entirely different world: Mini Bar – Cabaret Gourmet. Deep red tones, dim lights, velvet, shadows and a speakeasy mood. It feels like a Parisian underground club — Moulin Rouge meets contemporary gastronomy.
And then there’s Pizzaria Lisboa, the most relaxed concept in the building, serving artisan pizzas with the signature Avillez touch.
Mini Bar is where the magic truly happens. The space is intimate, almost secretive, and the show starts quietly before taking over the room. The singers don’t just stay on stage — they wander through the tables, touch your shoulder, play with the guests, and make everyone part of the moment. It’s fun, bold and surprisingly tender at the same time. For a second, you forget you’re in Lisbon; it feels like Montmartre.
Mini Bar offers two ways to dine:
The menu is surprisingly friendly for vegetarians and vegans. These are the standout dishes — all with their prices:
The dishes are playful, elegant and full of surprises — exactly what you’d expect when a top chef lets his creativity run free.
Bairro do Avillez is just one part of Avillez’ world. His other restaurants show how broad his culinary vision is:
Knowing this, Bairro do Avillez becomes even more fascinating — it’s the place where Avillez experiments, entertains and lets his imagination loose.
The magic of Mini Bar is the total experience: the beautiful historic building, the mix of four different concepts, the food, the music, the cabaret vibe — and the feeling that anything can happen. When the singer steps into the room, touches someone’s hand, or makes a whole table laugh, time slows down. It’s intimate, warm, theatrical and unforgettable.
If you want an evening that feels like a night at the Moulin Rouge — but with better food and the charm of Chiado — Mini Bar is an absolute must.
