Finally, a place where design, fine dining, and the relaxed soul of the Algarve come together. Cabana Sass – created by Monaco restaurateur Samy Sass – has opened its doors at Praia do Almargem, right between BJ’s Beach and Temperus. It’s the kind of place that instantly feels different: refined, but with your feet still in the sand.
The moment you arrive, Samy Sass himself often greets guests with his typical Monaco charm. The restaurant sits in the dunes, blending pine wood, white fabrics and raw stone – a mix between Comporta and Bali. Inside, an open kitchen buzzes with energy; outside, large terraces overlook the Atlantic. Every corner breathes calm and coastal sophistication.
Cabana Sass was designed by ERG Dreams and Yodezeen, with interior design by Viterbo, known for understated luxury. Think natural textures, warm light, linen curtains dancing in the breeze, and music that moves from relaxed lounge during lunch to soft beats at sunset. It’s the kind of setting that makes you forget time.
Service is another highlight. The French-Portuguese team moves gracefully without headsets or tablets. Orders are taken with eye contact and genuine smiles. The French manager, who has worked in Bucharest and Saudi Arabia, keeps things smooth yet friendly. The only tiny downside? Dishes come fast – almost too fast if you like to linger between courses.
The menu is short, smart, and built for shared dining. You’ll find Mediterranean dishes with an Atlantic twist: grilled Algarve prawns, fresh fish, wood-fired vegetables, and bright summer salads. The portions invite sharing – perfect for a long lunch with friends.
Cabana Sass pleasantly surprises with several vegan and vegetarian options – still a rarity on the Algarve coast. Prices reflect the upscale setting, but portions and presentation make it worth it.

Vegan and gluten-free options are available but not clearly marked yet – something the team could easily improve, especially for international guests booking online.
The wine list is extensive, with Portuguese and French labels, and plenty of sparkling choices. The only thing missing is a non-alcoholic wine section – a growing trend in premium dining that would perfectly fit Cabana Sass’ wellness-meets-luxury vibe.
The restaurant fills quickly, even in its first weeks. By sunset, every table is taken, and laughter mixes with the rhythm of the sea. This is not a place for quick bites; it’s a full experience – stylish but never stiff.
It’s a welcome evolution for Quarteira’s beachfront, where most spots lean casual. Cabana Sass finally brings something different: a sophisticated beach restaurant that caters to the luxury crowd of the Golden Triangle without losing the laid-back Algarve essence.
Cabana Sass is more than a restaurant – it’s a statement. A touch of Monaco elegance landed softly on the Algarve coast. From the natural design to the caring service and creative menu, it’s one of those places that sets a new standard for beachfront dining.
If you’re looking for a long lunch, a romantic dinner, or just that “golden hour” drink with style, this is the new must-visit hotspot of the Golden Triangle
