What a discovery. Exuberante in Porto is one of those restaurants where everything just fits – the atmosphere, the flavors, the people. It’s located inside the brand-new Altis Porto Hotel, just fifty meters from the Douro River, with a view that instantly slows you down.
The interior feels elegant and contemporary without being sterile. There’s plenty of light, warm tones, and natural materials. The semi-open kitchen adds a personal touch — you can actually watch Chef Rafaela Ferreira and her team at work, which makes the whole experience come alive. The young, friendly staff completes the picture: relaxed, smiling, and genuinely attentive.
The organic menu is full of surprises, especially for anyone who loves plant-based fine dining. There are many vegan and vegetarian dishes – across starters, mains, and desserts.
Among the starters (€14), the Stracciatella with organic beetroot, herbs, and port wine vinegar and the grilled courgettes with mint and geraniums stand out: light, balanced, and full of character.
As for the mains, the ‘arroz de grelos’ (€14) and the heart of cabbage with sweet potato gnocchi and smoked broth (€17) reach true Michelin-star level — refined, creative, and beautifully plated.
There are also a few excellent fish and meat options, like the fish of the day (€26) and the tenderloin steak (€25). Everything feels thoughtful, seasonal, and prepared with care.
A great extra is the lunch menu: for just €20, you get a starter, main course, and dessert, including a glass of wine or water and coffee. For a restaurant of this quality, that’s a real find in Porto.
Chef Rafaela Ferreira grew up in Viseu, where her parents ran a restaurant — the perfect place to fall in love with cooking. She studied hospitality and culinary arts in Coimbra, trained in top kitchens such as the Michelin-starred Feitoria in Lisbon, and since 2024, she’s been leading the kitchen at Exuberante.
Her approach is simple and honest: local, seasonal, and plant-forward cuisine with deep respect for the ingredient itself. In an interview, she said: “I want people to come back — that matters more than margins. In the long run, it’s what makes it worthwhile.” That authenticity shows in every dish.
Rafaela’s food celebrates flavor, memory, and nature. She works closely with local producers and lets vegetables take center stage, showing that fine dining doesn’t have to mean heavy sauces or complicated techniques. This is Porto vegan fine dining at its best — elegant, conscious, and full of soul.
Exuberante is part of the Altis Porto Hotel, a modern 2024 building that combines sleek design with warm hospitality. Located just steps from the Douro, the views are stunning whether you’re dining or relaxing upstairs. Mónica Almeida, the general manager, ensures that service flows seamlessly between hotel and restaurant.
Rooms start at around €250 per night, and there’s a secure underground parking garage — a big plus in Porto. The Altis Hotels Group runs six hotels in Porto and Lisbon, known for their modern design and focus on guest experience.
Exuberante Porto combines Michelin-level cuisine with a modern, easy-going vibe and a surprisingly vegan-friendly menu. The dishes are balanced, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The service feels young and sincere, and the setting is both stylish and warm.
If you’re visiting Porto and looking for vegan fine dining, a Michelin-style experience, or simply a memorable dinner with a view of the Douro, this is the place to go.
