Column – Dance Before the Music Is Over
Sometimes you see a little quote on Facebook that hits you at the right moment: dance before the music is over. And yes… I’m 60 now. With a bit of luck, I still have about twenty years to enjoy this beautiful life in the Algarve. The famous 80/20 rule applies here too: apparently I’ve lived roughly 80% of my life already. A strange thought, because inside I still feel like that young guy who wants to discover everything.
When I was younger? I never dared to dance. At school parties I stood against the wall, far too shy. And now? I’m the first one on the dance floor. Not because I’m so good at it, but because I know how quickly the music can stop. So live now. Do the things you love. Don’t be afraid.
My friend from Rotterdam, Marlies, always says: “What’s the worst that could happen?” And my father had his own line: “You have to try everything once.” And they are right. Try everything, keep what’s good.
Be grateful. We’re lucky to live in Portugal, surrounded by beauty. Let’s help each other make life even better. And with HotspotsAlgarve, we try to do our part—giving you inspiration for great evenings in great places. Because the music is playing right now.
So go dance.
